For grown-ups · read this first
Children walk a toy spider over a sticky web, look closely at a real web, and test how well a web shelters a paper bug from wind and rain. Then they read the ayah about the spider's house.
Explorer ★ draws, circles, counts and says (often ages 4–7). Investigator ★★ predicts, tests, records and explains (often ages 7–11). Choose by your child, not by age. Siblings can do the same case at different levels.
Spiders make silk inside their bodies and spin webs to catch food. Many garden spiders build round webs with spokes and a spiral. Some threads are sticky and some are not, and the spider moves along the safe ones. A web is very good at catching insects, but it is a poor shelter: wind, rain and bigger animals break through it easily.
We share creation as signs to ponder, not as proof. If your child asks something about the religion that you are unsure of, ask a recognised asatizah together.

Wow, why?
Stick tape across a paper plate, sticky side up, to make a web. Walk a toy spider across it. Did it get stuck? Real spiders know which threads are safe to walk on!
☐ We tried it!
Read it together · Surah Al-'Ankabut 29:41
The parable of those who take protectors other than Allah is that of the spider, who builds (to itself) a house; but truly the flimsiest of houses is the spider's house;- if they but knew. (29:41)
English: Abdullah Yusuf Ali

What do I notice? How do I know?
⚠ Grown-up help: Look, don't touch. Leave the spider and its web where they are.
Draw the web you found. Count the lines going out from the middle.
